A group of plein air painters exhibit works from painting sessions en plein aire around Fort Worth.
Plein air refers to painting outdoors as practiced by Claude Monet and the other French Impressionists. Artists usually work quickly to capture a scene before the light and shadows change. For artists who paint in plein air, Fort Worth has a tremendous variety of subject matter. Artists from the Fort Worth community Art Center meet in all times of the year and in temperatures ranging from the 100s to near freezing. Popular locations for the group to paint wildlife and nature are Tandy Hills Park in east Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Nature Center. For more manicured scenes the group paints at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. For Architecture and History the Fort Worth Stockyards are a popular location as is the cultural district and even downtown Fort Worth has much to offer. This show features artists from across the Metroplex working in a variety of media to capture the look and feel of Fort Worth.
