My artwork is conceptually grounded on issues related to the exterior environment as experienced through the intimacy of the home. The material I use to fabricate sculpture is often salvaged from domestic life and has a recognizable history, recycled to provide us with unexpected connections to the animal world. Through distinct alterations made to these objects and the use of steel which evokes industry and development, I seek to accentuate the contrast between the man-made and the natural environment and how they are becoming ever more disparate in contemporary society. -- Cozette Phillips
