Shackleton's Antarctic Voyage

Fort Worth resident artist Vicki Owen will be represented in 3 shows opening this March. Her solo show, Shackleton’s Antarctic Voyage, will be featured at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St. 76107. This is a collection of 17 encaustic monotypes (a print process that involves pigmented wax) inspired by explorer Ernest Shackleton’s ill-fated journey to the South Pole. Other works by Ms. Owen will be shown at ART7, 2956 Crockett St. 76107 and the “pop up” Fort Worth Art Collective, 2960 Crockett St. 76107. The Community Arts Center and the Art Collective will run March 6 -28. The ART7 exhibition, Back to Basics, opens March 13 and runs through May 2. All receptions will be held on FWADA Spring Gallery Night, Saturday, March 28, 6 - 9pm. Owen’s current media are encaustic monotypes and oil paintings characterized by her use of blending technique and rich textual surfaces.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma Ms. Owen studied art at University of Tulsa and UTA as well as the Belles Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. A member of the Fort Worth Art Collective and the Texas Artists Coalition, she has had several one-woman shows in Tulsa and Ft Worth. Commissioned works are in several private and corporate collections.
