Works by Anthony Wright
March 5 – April 10, 2021
Marlene and Spencer Hays Foundation Gallery
My artwork is composed of shapes created by landscape and architecture. I mentally cut those shapes out and when back in the studio, use them to build in the vernacular of my
sculpture. These shapes and lines serve as a starting point for my work and from that my pieces evolve intuitively. The resulting sculptures or drawings are elegant attempts to
resolve visual information. The work is not labored over; I make decisions rapidly and
move on. I find great enjoyment in seeing where the work leads me. The materials I use range from steel to wood, silver and gold. Drawings are created from graphite as well as paints.
