Icons and Mash-ups / Illusions

Michael Bane and Sue McCans

March 6 - 28, 2015

Michael Bane and Sue McCans show opens March 6, 2015. Both Artists have shared a studio for the past 20 years, each painting in their own style. McCans, whose work is more hard edge, entitles her show, Icons and Mash-ups. The work concerns itself with iconic images mixed with other Icons as well as combining her own images with that of popular ones. Bane’s work is more in the line of tromp'l oeil. In his show entitled Illusions, images seem to float, and what appears to be metal or wood or even beads, is in fact acrylic paint. His ability to manipulate the paint fools even the most discerning viewer into questioning what they think is real or not. Both artists have shown in many galleries and museums both here and abroad, and are collected by corporations and private collections world wide.
