Focal Point

Focal Point

October 3-30, 2014

I came from a photography background. I started using my photography to create collages, which evolved into mosaics. Like most artist I find inspiration in every day sites, objects and feelings. I like my work to remind me of people and places I have seen, it should make me smile. I love the permanence of mosaic and in turn, the permanence of the memories I create with it.

I received my BFA in 1992 at University of Texas, Arlington. My professional mosaic art career began in 2000 when I became co-owner of Tesserae Mosaic Studio. We build and install all sizes of commercial, public art, and residential mosaics. I am the Vice President of the Society of American Mosaic Artists. —Julie Dilling
