essinar paintography

by Stephen Ellison

July 7 - 30, 2014

my name is stephen ellison. back in college i started crawling around train yards and abandoned buildings trying to construct artistic photographs using my mom's camera. i had a dream of being an artist but life had other plans. 30 years, a wonderful marriage and remarkable daughter later i got back on track. in 2009, i discovered the hidden beauty of the closeup world through macro-photography. after several years taking photographs, i developed a desire to create in addition to record. i started combining painting and photography.

my work is divided into 2 elements: 1) photography of my painting (paintography), and 2) photography exposing the beauty and complexity of every day things perceived as ugly or mundane (hidden world).
