September 12- October 29, 2015
Reception for the artists will be held September 12, 2015; 6-9 pm
Fort Worth Weavers Guild will host its biennial handwoven exhibition “Common Threads: Globally Inspired Weavings,” September 5 - 28, 2015 at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St, Fort Worth, TX. FWCAC hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
In conjunction with Fall Gallery Night activities sponsored by the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association, there will be a reception in the Guild’s gallery on Saturday, September 12th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
“Common Threads” will feature a wide array of artwork woven in the past two years by Guild members from the greater Fort Worth area. The handwoven pieces in the exhibit will provide insight into the global depth and connections of past and contemporary weaving, as each work explores techniques, processes, and patterns from particular locations around the world.
Founded in 1955 by five Fort Worth weavers, the Guild’s mission is to sponsor a regular time when fiber artists can come together and share techniques and sources, to mentor new weavers, and to promote excellence in the ancient art of weaving. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Guild and in celebration, the Guild has created 60 handwoven aprons that also will be on display.
