Barbie Dies in Dreamhouse

Barbie Dies in Dreamhouse

Amanda Majors

June 6 - 21, 2014

Vivid in color and inspired by the surrealist movement, Amanda Majors presents, “Barbie Dies In Dreamhouse,” a testament to the high highs and low lows of being female, bisexual, bipolar and twenty something.

Using backlit transparencies, exaggerated colors, mirrors, Plexiglas and plenty of pink paint: she is able to create an emotional memoir playing with the reflection and repetition of time. A time of sexual awakening, a time re-identification, a time of crisis and ultimately a journey between girlhood and independence.

--Amanda Majors was born in Fort Worth, Texas and is currently attending California Institute of the Arts.
