"In the United States of America, the fight for social justice has never had more valiant warriors than those from our artistic communities, because when the voices of every day Americans were stifled and silenced it was the voices coming from artists that were heard loud and strong.
It has been the artist, through visual depictions, through song, through dance, photography ,and more who has brought social issues to the forefront of consciousness. Art in communities of color has always been used to not only tell our stories but to raise the level of not only understanding but help create dialogue between us."
