Sight-Size Portrait Workshop: by Michael & Audra Pianta
Time & Location
About The Event
In this two-day workshop students will learn about portraiture through the lens of sight-size painting. The principles of sight size can help artists achieve an accurate drawing, which is particularly important in portraiture where even small drawing errors can significantly alter a model’s likeness or expression. The morning of the first day will consist of a demonstration of how to set up and begin a sight-size portrait. Materials, palette, portrait anatomy, and painting procedure will all be discussed. Students will then begin their own paintings while receiving frequent critiques. By the end of the workshop, students will have a better understanding of portraiture and the sight-size process, and be ready to apply these skills to their own portraits.
