I am a painter.  My typical work is best described as neo-expressionistic oil painting, loose and gestural, slap-dash manner but imbued with meaning.  My current body of work explores coal mining as a vague subject and was inspired by my family history, memories, and research.  Over the last 3 years for this series all of my oil paintings are in black and white.Creative critical thinking is the greatest asset an artist brings to the community and society.  Being involved in the community has always been important to me. -- Rachel Barminski Bounds
