My drawings are a way for me to explore the process of adaptation. I am beginning to understand and assimilate the transitory nature of my upbringing. Having emigrated from Russia, through stays of various lengths in the Middle East and Africa, I am discovering the connection among shifting nationalities and the ethereal possibilities of line.

My drawings develop slowly, reflecting the process of my own assimilation into the current environment. Each line is treated as a separate entity that contributes to the building of a larger structure. Despite the large scale, the structures remain quiet, demanding a sustained effort on the part of the viewer to understand and penetrate the subtleties of the drawings. – Lisa Nersesova
