FWPA: What's New

October 3 - November 1, 2014

ART7 Crockett Community Gallery

FWPA: WHAT’S NEW is an exhibition showcasing three exciting new public art projects —Tabachin Ribbon (Municipal Plaza), Wind Roundabout (Trinity River Vision Bridges), and Water Crossing Markers and Trinity River Fowl (Chisholm Trail Parkway).

Tabachin Ribbon, a 13’ diameter painted steel sculpture by Mexican artist Yvonne Domenge that she gifted to the City of Fort Worth that will be dedicated on October 15. Images of Tabachin Ribbon at Millennium Park, where it was originally exhibited in 2011-2012 and models of other works by Domenge will be on display.

A mockup of Ned Kahn’s Wind Roundabout will enable viewers to see, up close, the hinged, anodized aluminum elements that will constantly reveal the ever-changing direction and force of the wind in this 24’ diameter cylindrical sculpture to be installed in the new Henderson Street Roundabout (intersection of Henderson Street and White Settlement Road) in 2015.

Artist Norie Sato’s mosaic mural on columnar Water Crossing Markers and bridge monuments (Trinity River Fowl) is a work in progress along the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Detailed renderings of the artist’s compositions, along with samples of the mosaics, created under the artist’s supervision by Franz Mayer of Munich, will be displayed. The artist sourced imagery from local photographers, many of which will be included in the exhibition.
