Fort Works Art: A Common Thread
Featured Artist: Lauren Childs
June 6 – 29, 2014
Fort Works Art is pleased to announce its second art showcase, A Common Thread.
Fort Works Art is an organization that was formed from the partnership between J.W. Wilson and Lauren Childs, both Fort Worth staples. This coupling formed quite suddenly when their passionate ideas for art and their community came together. Striving to make art more accessible to the community, they act as a life line for all things art. The inaugural show was curated by the two, and included works from over 20 local and international artists. Maintaining the concept of rotating artists and curators, fellow artist Leigh Ann Williams will act, as curator and they will feature the groups’ first solo spotlight artist.
A Common Thread will feature the work of Lauren Childs. Lauren is a Fort Worth artist who comes from a very dynamic group of teachings and teachers. She is a classically trained painter who embraces realism in a fresh, new and inventive way. Her technical skill and eye for cropping her subject, coupled with a bit of psychological mystery, create dynamic breathtaking compositions that draw the viewer in. Her body of work deals with her past, present and future experiences, examining the dynamic that lies between exaltation and despair.
The showcase will also include work from Nix Johnson, Clara Jewel Moore, Greg Bahr, Leigh Ann Williams, William Webster, Jessica Pullings, and The Dead Artists Society.
