Artificial Product by Maki Hajikano In this (artificial product) series, I am investigating constructed beauty, prototype, copy and culture in our society. Multiple cast components such as a tongue, pig ear and pig feet are employed in this series. By removing these components away from the original context, they became anonymous. When they become transformed into a different form such as a flower, then they start to have two different aspects. They serve as a part of a larger form, which manifests its beauty. And, at the same time, as each individual part, it retains the essence of the original object, which is often defined as “ugliness” or “grotesque”. This is a metaphor of superficiality, which is one of the characteristics in our society.  -  Maki Hajikano
