PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS IN NORTH TEXAS
PAINT -- Professional Artists in North Texas -- is a group of accomplished and passionately committed artists who make a weekly practice of painting out of doors. Their subjects are primarily landscapes and botanical settings, though they are skilled in still life and figurative works as well. The group includes oil and acrylic painters, pastels, watercolor, and graphite artists, many en plein air (the French expression for painting "in the open air"). The artists reside in communities throughout North Texas, many are represented nationally in shows and galleries, and have ties to universities and professional organizations throughout the country.
After many years of painting together informally, the artists came together as a formal group in early 2010 and organized PAINT to help better display and market their work. Building on a number of initial successes with exhibitions in places like Fort Worth, Keller and Grapevine, the group is now expanding its activities with a newly established website (www.northtexasartists.com) and a series of new exhibits.
The team of PAINT artists includes: Pamela Blaies, Tina Bohlman, Ann Hardy, Cheri Irwin, Shirley Kinworthy, Beverly Richmond, Paula Robinson, Arlene Butterworth Taylor, Irma Ward, Margie Whittington, and Trish Wise.
The individual artists have been active in a wide array of professional organizations, including the Outdoor Painters Society, the Portrait Society of America, the Arts Council of Northeast Tarrant County, the Trinity Arts Guild, Oil Painters of America, the National League of Pen Women, the Texas Artists Coalition, Irving Arts Association, and the Grapevine Art Project.
Among the many institutions of higher learning with which they have been associated are the University of Texas at Arlington, Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University, Brigham Young University, the University of North Carolina, and the Liliedahl School of Traditional Oil Painting.
