Celebrating 10 successful years and honoring Randi and Mark Thistlethwaite, PhD for their contributions to the arts in Fort Worth, Preservation is the Art of the City® is an art show and sale featuring the works of 50 jury-selected, local artists. Sales support the artists who live here and the preservation programs of Historic Fort Worth, Inc., including McFarland House and Thistle Hill. Featured artist Billy Hassell created the oil on canvas Trinity Trails, this year’s logo artwork.

Artworks may be displayed in three areas – each artist receives a space for medium to large works; there is an area for miniatures which are usually less expensive.  Artistic styles and media vary, however many artists participate in a special section called Stories from the City. These artworks often depict favorite places in Fort Worth, and each one is accompanied by a statement from the artist explaining the rationale for its selection.

The artists receive 65% of the purchase price of their sold artwork, making this fund-raiser unique in the area.
