Into the West is a painterly road trip through the colors, textures and forms of the landscape from West Texas, through New Mexico and Arizona, with an occasional thought of the sounds and rhythms of New York City  – Cynthia Hammett.

As an artist working in oils, I am inspired by the work of both the European and American impressionists and consider myself a colorist.  I can think for a long time about a painting before beginning it, but ultimately I try to paint quickly and in an 'alla prima' fashion. I really like to paint and have been an artist all my life.  Although I work in oils primarily, there is no medium that doesn't inspire and thrill me, from pencil drawing to photography. –Julie Wende
