Preservation is the Art of the City® functions as a non-profit art gallery to promote and support local studio artists and historic preservation in Fort Worth, Texas.  The 49 jury-selected artists paint in a broad range of styles and subject matters.  (Please note: photography and sculpture are not exhibited at this time.)  Many enter paintings in a special preservation themed category called “Stories of the City” which often depict iconic and vernacular Fort Worth buildings.

“The Reception with the Artists” is the premier opportunity to purchase art before the art show opens to the public. Sponsored cash awards for outstanding artworks, named in honor of Fort Worth Circle Artists, are presented to selected artists at this event.  Award winners will be chosen by the 2009 guest juror: Frances Colpitt, Deedie Potter Rose Chair of Art History, TCU.  The 2009 Preservation is the Art of the City® honoree is Carter Bowden, Fort Worth native, antique dealer and patron of the arts. This year’s featured artist is Ann Ekstrom.
